A chemical investigation of the bioactive constituents of the leaves of Baphia nitida, one of the medicinal plants used widely in Nigeria by the herbalists for the treatment of different ailments such as ringworm, stiff joints, sprains, rheumatic pains and infectious diseases  resulted in the isolation of a new compound, Baphianoside. The structure was elucidated using a two dimensional spectroscopy, NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopy in combination with IR and MS spectra data.
