Abstract

The problem of inaccurate search result has generated a lot of controversies leading to the advent of Web 3.0 also known as theSemantic Web. At the heart of Semantic Web is Ontology. The need to evaluate Ontology is critical to aligning the Ontologywith its purpose. Besides, it provides a means of self or third party assessment of Ontologies. In order to determine the quality ofa novel Ontology – Ontology for Nigerian Case Laws (ONCL), we employed the OntoQA – a metric based Ontology evaluationtool – to expose how well the Ontology is in alignment with its purpose of efficient and effective access and retrieval of NigerianCase Laws.
