A Quantitative Study on Determining the Entrepreneurship Tendency of Generation Y

Abstract


This research, which was planned as a descriptive seeker survey in a cross-sectional type, was carried out with 1000 students selected by stratified sampling method in order to determine the perceptions of entrepreneurial tendency of the students in the axis of the Y generation in Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. In the research, 5 questions including demographic information and entrepreneurial tendency scale (28 questions) were applied as data collection form. The data obtained were analyzed by using SPSS23 program for descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, and ANOVA, T test and Correlation analyzes and Bonferroni test was used for further analysis. According to their search findings, the participants received 95,15 ± 14,06 (29-129) points from the total of Entrepreneurial Tendency Scale, the total score averages of entrepreneurship tendency scale are not affected by gender, among the sub-dimensions of the entrepreneurship tendency scale in “propensity to take risk” and “tolarance to ambiguity” males have higher average scores than females, undergraduate students have a higher total of entrepreneurial tendency scale and a higher score in the sub-dimension of innovation and it was determined that the marital status variable did not affect the mean scores on the entrepreneurship tendency scale. In addition, it is also among the findings the mean scores obtained from “need for achievement”, “propensity to take risk” and “tolerance to ambiguity” sub-dimensions are not affected by the education department. As a result, it is determined that the departments studied have an impact on entrepreneurship tendency.
