Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral program in the development of the skill of anger management among a sample of spinsters suffering from dysthymic disorder . To achieve this goal , the researcher prepared a 16-session program . The study sample consisted of (16) females suffering from dysthymic disorder from the clients at the specialized psychiatric clinic in the city of Khan Younis , aged between ( 30-40 ) years , and who received low scores on a scale of anger management , and at the same time who received high  scores in the level of dysthymic disorder as diagnosed  by specialist doctors working in the clinic . The study sample  has been randomly and equally divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The results showed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of ? ? 0.05 between the  mean scores of the experimental group and the control group on each of the post-test , and the follow -up test in the skill level of anger management , and showed a rise in the experimental group's level of skill of anger management compared to the control group . The findings also indicated the presence of statistically significant differences between the two measurements pre and post in the skill level of anger management in the experimental group ,  which means that the program had a positive impact  on anger management skill development in females who suffer from dysthymic disorder. This result indicates the effectiveness of the program in  achieving the goal of the current study.
