Performance Testing: Methodologies and Tools

Abstract

Performance testing is important for all types of applications and systems, especially for life critical applications in Healthcare, Medical, Biotech and Drug discovery systems, and also mission critical applications such as Automotives, Flight control, defense systems, etc. This paper presents performance testing concepts, methodologies and commonly used tools for a variety of existing and emerging applications. Scalable virtual distributed applications in the cloud pose more challenges for performance testing, for which solutions are rare, but available; one of the major providers is HP Loadrunner.
