The Crime of Electoral Bribery in the Law of the Election of the Jordanian Council of Representatives No. 6 of 2016

Abstract

Election is the mainstay of the democratic ruling system. So the electoral legislation has cared about adding the criminal protection to the electoral process by criminalizing the electoral bribery to avoid the threatening risks to the integrity of the elections and to undermine the power of money on the electoral process. The Jordanian legislator stipulated this crime in Article 59 of the Election Law of the House of Representatives No. 6 of 2016.

The purpose of this research is to shed light on the crime of electoral bribery in terms of its rules and penalties, and to explain the problems of its application.
