The Motivation Levels of The Students Towards Mathematics Lessons: Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University Pazarcik Vocational High School

Abstract


This study was carried out to examine how the motivation of the students studying at the 1st grade at the vocational school towards mathematics lesson differs according to gender and the graduated high school variance factors. The research was done among the 214 first grade students studying at Pazarcik Vocational School at the 2014-2015 academic year. This research is a descriptive study in general survey type. In this research Likert type motivation scale which is first developed by Dede (2003) and then put into final form by Cakir (2013) was used in order to gain data. The analysis of the data gathered after the research is done by SPSS 15.0 for Windows package programme. In order to test the hypothesis of the research Independent-Sample T-Test and One-Way ANOVA are used. As a result of the analysis of the data, among the levels of mathematics motivation between the girls and the boys, there was a significant difference on behalf of the girls. On the other side, the variance of the type of the high school they graduated had a significant effect on the motivation levels of the students.
