A Review of Past-to-Present Literature for Stirling Engines

Mehmet Sait Cengiz, Mehmet Salih Mamis

Abstract

Turkey is rank first among EU countries in total solar power potential; however, this potential cannot be adequately assessed and used. Although Spain could be more efficient production model for our country due to the similar climatic conditions, owing to cultural and economic relations with Germany, Turkey has preferred to produce electricity by the PV panels. But Turkey's real solar potential is heat-sourced and this corresponds to 80% of its entire solar potential. Therefore, Spain that has similar climate conditions to our country can be considered as a model for rational use of solar potential. Spain upgraded to 4th in all over the world in last decade in generating electricity from solar by using its heat-heat-sourced CSP solar potential. In this paper, besides making assessments for Turkey, a review of past-to-present literature is conducted for Stirling engines and it is considered that the survey results will serve as an important source related to Stirling engine in the preparation of article, paper and books.
