Investigation of Uranium (VI) Adsorption on Kula Volcanics Modified with HDTMA
Abstract
In this study, the adsorption capacity of Kula volcanic modified with HDTMA-Br (the quaternary amine salt), long chain organic cation, was increased and the use of it was aimed for U (VI) removal. Structural characteristics such as XRF, FT-IR, SEM and BET surface area of prepared absorbent structure volcanic were investigated. U(VI) adsorption studies were investigated by using the response surface methods (RSM). Effective experimental conditions on adsorption efficiency: pH (3-8), U (VI) concentration (20-100 mg/L), temperature (20-60 °C) and time (15-120 minutes) were selected. According to the RSM data, it is seen that the model is the second-order (quadratic) and R2 and R2adj values from the parameters which are shown model fitting are 0.98 and 0.95, respectively. The adsorption capacity for HDTMA-Kula Volcanite at optimum conditions was found to be 3,918 mg/g. In addition, this work, U(VI) adsorption was investigated the suitability to the isotherms and thermodynamic parameters were calculated.
