The Effect of CrataegusSp Seedling Rootstockson Growth and Performance of Some Apple cultivars (Granny Smith, Mondial Gala and Fuji apple)

Abstract

This research was conducted at east mediterranean transitional zone agricultural research of institute, Using containerized hawthorn seedlings under shadehouse. Three apple (Granny Smith, Mondial Gala andFuji) cultivars were grafted on MM106 apple rootstock and haw thornseedlings. Depending on cultivarand rootstock, the bud take ratiovaried. Thebudtakes 94%, 96% and 97% for Granny Smith, Mondial Gala and Fujiapple cultivars, respectively.After grafting a concordant development between rootstock and shoot was observed.No problems have been identified at thefusion. Shootlength, shootcaliper, total leaf area and leaf index (cm2leaf/ cm shoot) were also analyzed. Haw thorn seedlings were more garfting rootstock compared to MM106 rootstocks.
