Abstract

The main factors determining the quality of education and the teaching of chemistry are syllabuses and course books prepared in accordance with these syllabuses. Therefore, developed syllabuses should be examined and new programs should be prepared according to the data that obtained from these examinations. This study is based on the above-mentioned grounds. In this study high school II chemistry syllabuses developed from 1957 to 2011 in our country have been examined with critical perspective considering planning, implementation and evaluation stages. The studies have showned that programs have not been done with detailed analysis of the need sufficiently during planning stages, the necessary conditions have not been provided to all schools during application process and effective assessments have not been done after applications. After detailed analysis of syllabuses and textbooks, recommendations have been given for future program development and preparation of textbooks.
