Differences between thestudent perceptions and employer expectations:what skills are needed for the fresh accountants

STEPHEN DELGADO, ALICE HARRISON

Abstract

This paper uses several approaches to verify the perceptions and expectations of two major stakeholders: accounting students and employers of fresh accountants. The result demonstrated that  students are growing to understand the expectations of employers.  Employers, on the other side, are expecting a good understanding of accounting skills, strong analytical skills and the business sense. The surey we used indicated that many of the non-technical and professional skills were not actually developed sufficiently in the education programs. Instead, the students developed these skills in other parts of their life
