The extent of participation of workers in decision-making and its impact on employee empowerment in public community colleges
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the extent of participation of workers in decision-making and its impact on employee empowerment in public community colleges in Jordan, and to achieve the objectives of the study questionnaire was developed for the purpose of data collection. The study population included the (192) people, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS.16) were used for the analysis of questionnaire data, the study found a group of results, most notably:
- The perceptions of the workers in the public colleges about the level of participation in decision making were very high.
- The perceptions of the workers in the public colleges about the employee empowerment were very high.
- The level of participation in decision making has an impact in employee empowerment, the dimensions of the level of participation in decision making interpret about 61% of the variance in employee empowerment.
The study recommends the need to work on creating an organizational culture that promotes participation in decision-making in the organizational environment, and upgrading these dimensions to the desired upper levels, through the development of the skills of workers and to provide a strategic and clear-cut vision for the colleges and its objectives, because of its impact in improving the level of employee empowerment that positively affects on the efficiency and effectiveness of these colleges in achieving its organizational objectives.
