Trade Openness and Economic Growth in East African Community (EAC) Member Countries

Abstract


This paper applies the Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) technique to panel data from1990 to 2015 to provide empirical evidence on the long run relationship between trade openness and economic growth in for the East African (EAC) member countries. The paper find negative relationship between tarde openness and economic growth but statistical significant at 5%. The granger causality test results have shown the existence of a unidirectional causality freom from economic growth to trade oppeness.
