Interleukin-2&Interleukin-12 Levels in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Abstract


The current study was conducted at the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology of the Health Directorate in Thi- Qar province, during the period from October 2013 to May 2014. The study aimed and evaluate immune status of diabetes type I patients by measuring the levels of interleukins (IL-2, IL-12) in the serum using a technique enzyme-linked immune sorbent adsorptive  (ELISA),the study included a total of 72 patients with type I diabetes (37 males) and (35 females) and  there aged between 1-40 years.  When compared with 12 healthy control  people.. The results showed a significant increase (P ≤ 0.01) in the levels of interleukins in the serum (IL-2, IL-12) in all patients with type I diabetes compared to the control group.
